Le nouveau iPhone 3G S s'est écoulé à plus de 1 million d'exemplaires à ses 3 premiers jours, soit seulement lègèrement plus que son prédécesseur le iPhone 3G (juillet 2008) à ses 3 premiers jours, sauf que le 3G était disponible dans 21 pays à sa sortie alors que le 3G S n'était disponible que dans 8 pays pour la fin de semaine de lancement. De plus, 6 millions d'utilisateurs du iPhone ou du iPod Touch ont téléchargé le logiciel iPhone 3.0 à ses 5 premiers jours.

Apple's famous chief, Steve Jobs, makes his first public comment since he went on a sickness leave (during which he had a liver transplant) early this year, and it's to announce good news. Over one million of the new iPhone 3G S have been sold in its first 3 days, which is only very slightly more than its predecessor the iPhone 3G (July 2008) in its first 3 days, except that the 3G was available in 21 countries at launch while the 3G S was available in only 8 countries for the launch. Also, 6 million users of the iPhone or the iPod Touch downloaded the iPhone 3.0 software in its first 5 days.

Google confirms that it slowly started, a few days ago, to integrate links to online encyclopedia Wikipedia into its Google News news agregator. Some users will see for instance the word A/H1N1 flu become a link to the description of the A/H1N1 flu on Wikipedia when they will read news on Google News. However, Google opted for an extremely step-by-step approach, starting with links only on an extremely small number of keywords and for a very small sample of readers.

Selon une nouvelle étude de Harris Interactive, il resterait encore significativement plus d'Américains qui possèdent un lecteur HD-DVD (le format de Toshiba qui est sensé avoir perdu la guerre contre le Blu-ray) que de lecteurs Blu-ray (le format de Sony qui est sensé avoir gagné la guerre)! On parlerait de 10% vs. 7%. La raison: les coûts plus élevés du lecteur Blu-ray et des disques Blu-ray, en période de récession économique. According to a new study from Harris Interactive, there would still be significantly more Americans that own an HD-DVD player (Toshiba's format that is supposed to have lost the war against the Blu-ray) than Blu-ray player (Sony's format that is supposed to have won the war)! It would be 10% vs. 7%. The reason: the higher costs of the Blu-ray player and Blu-ray discs, in a period of recession. Of course, the Blu-ray is nonetheless on the path to surpass the HD-DVD in the next few months.

Microsoft reaches an agreement with the state of Mississippi, where there was a class-action lawsuit regarding the price of Windows and Office considered abusive because of its disloyal business practices and its abuse of monopoly. The state will get US$40 million, while vouchers good for any Microsoft product (software or hardware) will be handed to the Mississippi residents who request it, up to a maximum of US$60 million. If not all the vouchers are claimed, Microsoft will give an additional $8 million to the state, for a total of $48 million. In order to be elligible to the vouchers, you must have purchased a Microsoft software (operating system or Office) between January 1st, 1996 and June 11th, 2009.
