C'est fait, les titres de Facebook se transigent maintenant au Nasdaq, sous le code FB! Ils y sont entrés avec un PAPÉ de 16 007 millions$US, un record de tous les temps pour une compagnie de hautes technologies, très loin devant les 1 666 milliions$US de Google en 2004 et les 1 304 millions$US de Yandex (leader de l'Internet en Russie) en 2011. Ses actions ont débuté la journée à 38$ et ont grimpé jusqu'à 43,03$ (valeur totale de plus de 18,1 milliards$US), mais ont terminé la journée à peu près où elles avaient commencé, à 38,23$US/action.

They entered with a US$16,007 million IPO, an all-time record for an I.T. company, very far ahead of Google's US$1,666 million in 2004 and Yandex's (Internet leader in Russia) US$1,304 million in 2011. Facebook PAPÉ (Premier Appel Public à l'Épargne): Facebook dévoile enfin le prix auquel se vendront ses actions lorsqu'il deviendra une compagnie publique demain. Fort d'une vente privée exceptionnelle de 421,2 millions d'actions pour 16 milliards$US aux États-Unis ces dernières semaines, les actions de Facebook partiront en bourse à 38$/action, ce qui lui confèrera une valeur totale de 104 milliards$US. Cela représente environ la moitié de la valeur de Google, mais plus que la valeur d'Amazon.

Scott Thompson a été congédié à cause d'une erreur dans son curriculum vitae, qui mentionnait un baccalauréat en science de l'informatique alors qu'il s'agissait plutît d'un bacc en comptabilité! Un vice-président de Yahoo!, Ross Levinsohn, assurera l'intérim en attendant de nommer le 4e vrai (à part des intérims!) chef de Yahoo! en un peu plus de 3 ans.

Rogers Communications annonce la fermeture à la fin mai de 8 de ses sites Web, dont le pionnier de la nouvelle technologique et une des principales sources d'information de Powhertz, Branchez-vous! Ce portail et 4 autres des sites affectés (Matin.qc.ca -anciennement Matinternet-, Showbizz.net, Ciné-Horaire.com et LeCinema.ca) avaient été obtenus par Rogers en 2010 dans l'acquisition de BV! Média pour 25 millions$CAN. Les autres sites qui fermeront sont SweetSpot.ca, SweetSpotQC.ca et Canadian Parents. Rogers explique que ces sites n'étaient pas intégrés à sa stratégie et constituaient des "joueurs solitaires" au sein de Rogers. C'est particulièrement décevant pour Branchez-vous, inauguré en 1995, que Rogers ne semble même pas avoir tenté de vendre, aux dires du fondateur du site...

Newco combinera les activitées numériques et collégiales de BnN, donc toutes ses opérations Nook. Lorsque Windows 8 sortira plus tard cette anné, il viendra automatiquement avec la librairie numérique Nook intégrée.

Les deux principales nouveautés sont l'ajout de HUD (Head-Up Display) (une boîte qu'on fait apparaître en appuyant une touche, tapant ensuite ce que l'on veut faire sur l'ordinateur, au lieu de chercher dans des menus) et Video Lens (une recherche intégrée de vidéos qui sort les résultats de recherche sur votre ordinateur, YouTube et d'autres sites Web). Precise Pangolin est aussi plus rapide que son prédécesseur, et l'application multimédia Banshee est à nouveau remplacée par Rythmbox.
